How we can help

SAY Health provides occupational therapy for children and young people from birth to 18, with a focus on early childhood and on how children feel as well as what they do.

You don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to get in touch. Not sure what you need? Tell us about your child and we’ll talk it through.

Everything starts with your child

Support grows outward from your child, to your family and the people around them. You won’t need everything here. We’ll work out together what fits your family.

Understanding your child

Assessments

A good assessment starts with your child and your family, then looks closely at how they play, learn and cope with the day.

  • Whole-child assessment

We talk with you and with your child, and look at home, school, relationships and daily life, not only skills. You leave with a clear picture and next steps.

  • Everyday function and sensory processing

Standardised tools and observation, including the Sensory Profile and the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), to understand how your child manages routines and responds to the world around them.

  • Handwriting and visual-motor skills

Assessment using the Evaluation Tool of Children’s Handwriting (ETCH) and the Beery Visual-Motor Integration test (Beery VMI).

  • Motor coordination

Looking at how your child moves, plans and coordinates their body for play, self-care and school tasks.

  • Infant and toddler development

Developmental assessment for babies and toddlers using the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, 4th Edition.

  • Autism assessment tools

Observation using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) as one part of a wider assessment. It does not replace a full diagnostic assessment, and we will explain what it can and can’t tell you.

  • School observation

With your permission, we can watch your child at kinder or school and talk with their teachers.

  • Written reports

Clear reports for you, and for your GP, school or other professionals when you ask us to share them.

Sessions with your child
